We had an opportunity to pick up another house sitting gig on our way north, this time looking after a pair of house-rabbits. They were pretty easy to look after, and it gave us a chance to look at a couple of cities that were at the centre of England's industrial revolution.

As with our visit to Liverpool a few days earlier, we liked the centres of the two biggest West Yorkshire cities, Bradford and Leeds. We hope you like the stories from there as well.

  • Almost 12 months away from home, you visit ‘the most dismal place in England’ and you still have a wonderful time?! It seems you’re not easily disappointed! The two of you are clearly meant to be world travellers. Congrats on the 10 year anniversary; you’ve squeezed more adventures into those 3652 days than most people do in a lifetime.

    • Thanks, Mark! Being dismal just takes too much energy :-). It may be different halfway through April after living through six months of cold, grey, wet and dreary weather. But we loved our few days there. We only passed through Manchester, but that looks like a place to go back to as well.

  • Hi Chris and Jan
    How are you doing?
I thoroughly enjoy reading about your adventures around a great part of the world, and looking at the most beautiful photos!
I understand that you are in West-Yorkshire these days. As it happens, my husband and I are leaving for Kingston-upon-Hull on Thursday 1 June. We are going to hike the Coast to Coast trail, from St Bees to Robin Hood’s Bay, through the Lake District, the Yorkshire Dales and the North Yorkshire Moors. It’s a beautiful part of the world up there, isn’t it? I don’t know what your further plans are, maybe we bump into each other! In any case, enjoy your further journey (and keep sharing it)!
Many greetings from Hilde (the Belgian one from the ‘Jordan family’)

    • Hilde, great to hear from you. We probably won’t cross paths in June as we will be further north, in Scotland. We hope you enjoy your walking, and don’t forget you have an open invitation to visit when you get to Australia.
