We are back on the road after a week relaxing in the south of France, at Karma Château de Samary. There is so much to see around this district, pinned between a myriad of small hilltop villages that date back centuries and the Pyrenees.

Carcassone itself is the site of one of the biggest and best preserved medieval citadels in Europe. Many of the smaller villages are still active communities, living in stone buildings that have remained largely as they were in the Middle Ages. We also learnt about a great feat of engineering that was commissioned by Louis XIV and still runs fully functional across the country.

The weather was very hot during our stay, reaching 40 degrees on a couple of days. We had planned two walks in the mountains, but spent some time around the pool instead.

We hope you enjoy this story of our time in this lovely part of France. And keep checking the map to see where we are (green), where we have been (blue) and where we plan to go (red).

  • Another great Sway. In terms of your French holiday so far, just as interesting as Paris but in such a different way.
