This post is the belated story of our family trip to Bali, where we were joined by some of our family to celebrate Christmas and New Year. Travelling from Cairns, Melbourne, and Darwin, we shared 10 days together in Jimbaran.

Jimbaran is in the southeast corner of the Indonesian island of Bali. December and January is monsoon season in Bali, but since most of us live in the Australian north, the tropical wet season is quite familiar. If anything, the weather was a little cooler than our homes in Darwin and Cairns.

We were able to enjoy some of the facilities on offer through our Karma membership. Karma owns three properties in Jimbaran. Two of the couples stayed at Karma Royal Jimbaran, and all of us spent time at the larger Karma Jimbaran and at the beach club at Karma Kandara.

We also want to use this post to give a preview of our upcoming trip to India. In a week's time, we will leave Cairns for a six-week trip to India.

This will be our third visit to this fascinating country. We will see some places again, but will also see some parts of the country for the first time.

After an overnight stopover in Delhi, we fly to Darjeeling in the northeast of India. Darjeeling is a hill station that served as the summer capital for the British in the days of the Raj. In the foothills of the Himalayas, it is now the stepping off point for outdoor adventures. We will be doing a six-day trek along the Singalila Ridge on the border of India and Nepal.

We then travel down the east coast to explore the cities of Kolkata, Chennai, and the old French colony at Puducherry. We have a week back at Goa before travelling north to Chandigarth and the Golden Temple at Amritsar. The trip ends with another adventure, the tigers at Tadoba National Park.

Of course, there will be posts along the way so you can travel along with us.
