This post is a double treat! We have covered so much distance in the last month, and seen so many places, that we are a little behind with the stories. Actually, about two whole countries behind. So this post has two new stories, as well as the updated travel map.
The stories are about two parts of our journey through Bavaria, the southernmost part of Germany. It is an area steeped in history, with Nuremberg being an incredibly important city in the history of the twentieth century. We also travelled to a small Alpine town to do a house sit, not a place on our original plans, and had one of those unexpected pleasant surprises that travel so often brings.
We hope you enjoy sharing this part of our adventure with us.

Hi Jan and Chris,
Your travel pics and summaries are so interesting and colourful.Love your bright winter coat Jan.Glad you didnt walk that BIG dog you minded,he would have taking you for the walk. Weather here has been so unseasonal for October /Nov.I think it rained every day in October and many rivers have burst their banks and towns like Echuca are flooded. Eugene and Kim are moving in with me until their place is to lockup, which should be early January. It will be interesting as they naturally are bringing their 17 year old Jack Russel too. Indoor doggie. Must keep apart from Miss Bella though. All is well here.Wil be seeing Lynne next Monday.Keep well and happy travels. Love from Jo eeee xx
Thanks so much for using the Comments section, Jo. Jan didn’t try to control the huge dog when we took him for walks, that was left to me. Even then, he pulled me back and forth as he pleased, especially if I let him get a couple of paces run up before the lead went tight again. But he was really fun to look after.
