We will be celebrating just one New Year while we were away, and we were determined to make it a memorable one. And what better way than to treat ourselves to a bit of Royalty?
The King of England, Charles III, owns a property in Transylvania, and when he isn't staying there himself, it can be booked by commoners for a fabulous experience in a remote rural village in the central Romanian countryside.
Charles' interest in the area stems from being able to trace his lineage back to the Nobility of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. While his lodge isn't a palace, it was a remarkable place for us to ring in 2023. Another fantastic memory to our growing list of highlights from our adventures.
We hope you enjoy a small taste of what we experienced.

Chris did you fall over on your walk because you whittled too much away from your walking stick? Or was it the champagne from the night before taking its toll?
🙂 All of the above, combined with a lot of muddy wheel ruts.
